After many years of serving the independent author community, our business operations are needing to shift. Effective April 30, 2025, Bookstand Publishing will no longer be publishing books under our imprint name.
This has been an extremely difficult decision for us to make, but one that has become necessary due to significant increases in printing costs with Ingram and the knowledge that further industry adjustments are on the horizon. These mounting challenges have made it increasingly difficult to maintain our operations while providing the level of service our authors deserve.
We want to express our sincere gratitude for entrusting us with your literary works over the years. It has been our privilege to help bring your creative vision to readers around the world.

This decision has become necessary due to significant increases in printing costs with Ingram and the knowledge that further industry adjustments are on the horizon. The impact these adjustments have on every single title we have published is immense and we do not have the capacity to maintain the titles anymore. These changes impact the amount earned every time your book sells, which impacts what we can pay you. Sometimes the retail prices have to be adjusted completely because the title might now be earning a negative amount, meaning we must pay Ingram every time a copy of the book is printed. This cost must then be passed along to you as an author since all of these adjustments cost time and money for us.
These mounting challenges have made it increasingly difficult to maintain our operations while providing the level of service our authors deserve.
After April 30, 2025, your book will no longer be published under the Bookstand Publishing imprint. Your book will be disabled from distribution and no new copies will be sold. This will also mean that you will no longer be able to order books wholesale through us too.
Depending on which option you choose, you will either have your files to republish elsewhere, be educated on how to self-publish, or have our team help transition your book to new platforms under your own accounts.
We will make every effort to ensure your book remains available until you have established your new publishing accounts. For authors choosing Option 3, we will coordinate closely to minimize any gap in availability.
No, you cannot. ISBNs are tied to the publisher, so you will need to obtain new ISBNs for your books when republishing. If you choose Option 2 or 3, we will provide guidance on obtaining ISBNs, including free options through platforms like KDP or purchasing your own through Bowker or IngramSpark.
All earned royalties will be paid either by check or ACH payment within 3 months following our closure date (by July 31, 2025). We are committed to ensuring that all authors receive their full earned royalties during this transition.
Yes, authors who published with us within the last year with time remaining on their contract will receive special considerations, including publishing credits that can be applied toward Option 2 or 3, priority transition scheduling, and extended support periods. Please contact us directly for your personalized options.
Yes, we offer customized packages for authors with multiple titles that may include volume discounts and specialized multi-book management systems. Please contact us directly to discuss your specific catalog and needs.
Please select your preferred option by March 31, 2025. This will allow us adequate time to implement your choice before our operational changes take effect on April 30, 2025.
